Ra One also facing legal challenge - Court asked to deposit 1 Crore

Troubles seem to be far from over for Shahrukh Khan, who is already stressed a week before the release of his ambitious film RA.One
The Bombay High Court has directed Shahrukh Khan to deposit Rs one crore as pay-order to the court before releasing RA.One, in a case of copyright violation. The said petition had been filed by TV producer and writer Yash Patnaik who claimed that sci-fi film RA.One was conceptualised by him. The division bench consisting of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice Roshan Dalvi reportedly said that if SRK’s Red Chillies Entertainment failed to deposit the money by tomorrow (October 22), there would be a stay order on the movie’s release. The division bench is reported to have said, “It is the most unfortunate part of the film industry that people use others’ concepts and then don’t want to pay or give them credit.” The court has kept the final decision on the issue of copyright violation pending, and would hear arguments in due course of time. According to Patnaik, the super villain of his script was called One, picked up by Shahrukh for his film’s characters and even the title. However, Shahrukh’s lawyer, Virendra Tulzapurkar said that SRK’s script was “completely different”. Eros Entertainment, distributors for the film, said that the prints were already on their way to the theatres for a huge release, and no stay should be granted at the last moment. RA.One releases October 26.
